About 1001
1001 builds AI-powered operational intelligence for the world's most complex, data-heavy environments. We turn fragmented data into a live, unified model of operations and use it to drive better decisions and solve high-stakes problems. Our work sits inside government and large enterprises, in environments defined by critical operations and messy, real-world data.
Our engagements start with forward-deployed teams embedded in the customer environment. They work on real data, build quickly, and iterate until the system proves itself, then scale it across the organization.
The company is backed by Lux Capital, General Catalyst, CIV, Hanabi, Sanabil, and 9Yards, with angels including Chris Ré, Amjad Masad, Karim Atiyeh, Kareem Amin, and Russell Kaplan.
About the role
You will work directly with the CTO across engineering, hiring, product, demos, and customer work. You will keep priorities moving, close open loops, and help the technical organization execute with greater clarity and consistency.
This role combines technical program ownership, engineering operations, customer engagement, hiring, and prototyping. It is based in London and includes regular travel across the Middle East for customer meetings, workshops, demos, and company priorities.
Some projects will be strategic and highly visible. Others will involve chasing updates, fixing details, and doing whatever is needed to get the work over the line.
What you'll work on
- Own initiatives delegated by the CTO and drive them through to completion.
- Turn decisions into clear actions, owners, deadlines, and follow-up.
- Track commitments and open loops across technical and company priorities.
- Lead special projects related to technical strategy, organizational design, headcount, budgets, and platform investment.
- Maintain a clear view of major technical initiatives, including progress, risks, dependencies, staffing, and decisions needed.
- Work with technical and cross-functional leaders to improve planning, reviews, accountability, and visibility.
- Surface tradeoffs between customer delivery, platform investment, and team capacity before they become blockers.
- Support technical hiring through sourcing, candidate review, interview coordination, and closing activities.
- Participate in customer discovery sessions and translate operational problems into clear product requirements.
- Turn customer problems and product ideas into convincing prototypes and demos.
- Own demo delivery from the initial brief through build coordination, reviews, rehearsals, and final delivery.
- Join customer engagements across the Middle East and carry actions through after each visit.
- Represent the technical organization credibly in internal and customer discussions.
- Communicate technical priorities, progress, and tradeoffs clearly to customers and other teams.
Requirements

- Ability to turn a customer problem or product idea into a convincing prototype using modern AI tools.
- Comfort moving between technical, product, customer, and organizational problems.
- Excellent organization and the ability to manage multiple priorities without losing commitments, deadlines, or details.
- High ownership, persistence, and a practical approach to getting work done.
- The judgment and diplomacy to follow up consistently without damaging relationships.
- Comfort with both high-profile projects and detailed execution work.

- Strong judgment about what to handle independently, what to propose, and what to escalate.
- Clear, structured communication skills, including the ability to turn complex discussions into useful plans, decisions, and updates.
- Confidence working directly with customers, executives, and senior technical leaders.
- A low-ego, discreet approach focused on making the wider organization more effective.
